A charging current of 150 kilowatt can already be described as high power charging and is typical for fast charging stations at highways. These high charging currents can only be transferred via direct current plugs like CHAdeMo or CCS Combo 2. The higher the charging current the higher are the energy losses. These losses are based on a transformation of the electrical energy to heat mainly based on the internal resistance of the cable. The coverage with high power charging infrastructure is currently growing in Europe. Whenever charging with such high charging speeds the typical break times for eating on a longer travel at a service area are enough time to recharge the batteries with a good amount of energy. Be aware that not many cars do support such high charging speeds. The final energy flow between charging station and car depends on many parameters such as battery state of charge and battery temperature.
